In this year, I did a lot of works with East Asian, especially Chinese elements as the theme, which is the outbreak of my nostalgia and my thinking and identification with Chinese culture after several years in the United States. I used to be a person who was accustomed to silence in various occasions.
The art education I received in the United States also made me passively obey the western discourse system to create. However, recently Asian Hatecrime has made me unable to keep silent and made me realize that creating Chinese landscape in my own language is no longer a "lonely" act. It is more difficult and more powerful than I imagined. I built a potted plant and blood-dripping offerings to commemorate the #stopasianhate.
I am beautiful and will never be silent again.
